Innovative Chinese Company Creates Office Inside Drained Swimming Pool
A Chinese company in Chengdu transformed a drained swimming pool into a temporary office, allowing employees to work in a unique underwater setting. However, concerns about fire safety have been raised.

A Chinese company based in Chengdu has taken a creative approach to office space by converting a drained swimming pool into a temporary workplace. The unconventional setup, shared by a staff member from the Luban Decoration Group, has garnered attention online.
According to the South China Morning Post, the company's gym, pool, and office are all situated on the same floor. Employees access the pool office through a glass door, with the pool's original structure still visible, including signs like 'swimming area' and 'deep water 1.55m.' This unique office space has been in use for two months now.
Photos of the setup show desks arranged in rows, each with eight workstations, connected by floor sockets and extension wires. The novelty of working in an underwater-themed office has captivated many, with one worker likening it to a scene from a science fiction movie.
While some appreciate the creativity of the setup, others have expressed concerns about fire safety. Blocked exits and the absence of proper fire safety measures have been highlighted as potential risks.
Turning unconventional spaces into functional work environments is not entirely new. In London, some individuals have repurposed old public toilets into homes and businesses to cope with rising property prices. These instances highlight the innovative ways in which individuals and companies are adapting to unique challenges.
