Dangerous Drugs to be Flushed Immediately: CDSO Issues Warning
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSO) has issued a list of 17 medicines that must be immediately flushed down the sink or toilet if expired, unused, or unwanted. These drugs, including fentanyl, tramadol, and diazepam, can be lethal if misused.

Warning on Expired Drugs
The CDSO has released a list of 17 high-risk drugs that should be flushed down immediately if expired, unused, or unwanted. These drugs, such as diazepam, can have dangerous effects if taken accidentally by anyone, especially children or pets.
Why Flushing is Necessary
Although it's not recommended to flush medications due to environmental concerns, the CDSO makes an exception for these high-risk drugs because of the immediate threat they pose at home. It is crucial to ensure these drugs are not left lying around as they can be potentially lethal.
Proper Disposal Methods
If you have any expired or unused medication listed by the CDSO, flush them down the toilet immediately. Make sure to wash your hands properly after disposal. For other drugs, store them in a sealed container and drop them off at an approved take-back site.
