The recent incident at South Calcutta Law College has shaken the city once again with the gang-rape of a first-year law student inside the college campus. The victim reported the heinous crime to the police, alleging that she was assaulted by an alumnus and two senior students on June 25.

All three accused, including the prime accused Monojit Mishra, were apprehended by the police following the complaint filed by the survivor. Medical examinations corroborated the allegations of the victim, revealing evidence of forceful penetration, bite marks, and nail scratches on her body.

Legal Action and Public Outrage

The case has sparked outrage across West Bengal, prompting immediate action from the authorities. Chief Police Prosecutor Sourin Ghosal emphasized that all individuals involved in a gang-rape case must be held accountable, not just the ones directly committing the act.

Political parties have engaged in a heated debate over the incident, with the ruling Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party trading barbs. The state government has assured that justice will be served, with swift arrests already made in connection with the crime.
