Houthi rebels in Yemen announced that they sunk a commercial cargo ship in the Red Sea after it was targeted by drones and missiles, marking a new escalation in maritime attacks.

Yemen's Houthi rebels reported on Monday that a commercial cargo ship they targeted over the weekend has sunk in the Red Sea. Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, a spokesperson for the Houthi military, confirmed that the Magic Seas, a Liberian-flagged and Greek-owned vessel, was attacked and ultimately sunk by bomb-laden drone boats and missiles. The ship was engulfed in flames during the Sunday attack, leading all 22 crew members to abandon the vessel and be safely rescued.
