Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: RJD Leader Tejashwi Yadav Questions Voter List Revision in Bihar

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has raised concerns over the voter list revision by the Election Commission in Bihar, accusing CM Nitish Kumar and PM Narendra Modi of attempting to suppress poor voters by demanding certain documents that may not be accessible to them. With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching in November 2025, EC has directed for a fresh preparation of electoral rolls for the state.

Tejashwi Yadav questioned the timing of the revision and criticized the demand for documents that could pose challenges for the poor sections of society to comply with. He further emphasized the need for transparency in the process and expressed intentions to raise the issue with the Election Commission.

The intensified revision process aims to ensure the enrollment of all eligible citizens while removing ineligible names from the voters' list. The controversy surrounding the revision has sparked opposition from several political parties, including the Congress, who fear the deliberate exclusion of voters using state machinery.

Similar revision exercises are planned for other states, including Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, ahead of their respective elections in 2026.
