Infosys Implements Monitoring System to Track Employee Work Hours

Infosys has introduced a monitoring system to track employee work hours and ensure balance between work and personal life.

Infosys has recently started sending warning emails to employees logging extra work hours, in contrast to founder N R Narayana Murthy's call for a 70-hour work week. According to a report by the Economic Times, the company has implemented an automated system to track employees' daily work hours, especially while working remotely.

Employees exceeding the 9-hour 15-minute threshold receive formal cautions from HR, with alerts sent monthly containing detailed breakdowns of remote working days, total hours worked, and daily averages. While Infosys appreciates commitment, the company emphasizes the need for balance.

The monitoring system was introduced after Infosys shifted to a hybrid work model, requiring staff to work from the office at least 10 days a month. The move reflects a growing focus on employee well-being in India's IT sector, prioritizing mental health and sustainable productivity over long work hours.

Infosys' approach has been seen as a departure from Narayana Murthy's suggestion of a 70-hour work week for Indian youth, signaling a shift towards a healthier work-life balance.
