All-Party Meeting Called by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has scheduled an all-party meeting on Thursday evening to discuss the recent terror attack in South Kashmir's Pahalgam. Twenty-six people lost their lives in the attack carried out by the resistance front terror group. The decision to hold the meeting was made on Wednesday, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah expected to attend the briefing.

JDU's Stance

NDA ally Janata Dal (United) will not be present at the meeting, but the party has announced its support for the government's decisions. JDU working president Sanjay Jha mentioned that party leaders will be in Madhubani, Bihar, for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled programs on National Panchayati Raj Day.

Response from Other Parties

Aimim lawmaker Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the government for not inviting several parties, including his own, to the all-party meeting. Owaisi expressed disappointment over the selection criteria based on the number of MPs. He emphasized that all parties, regardless of size, should have a voice in such crucial matters.

India's Response to Pakistan

India has taken strong actions against Pakistan following the terror attack, including downgrading diplomatic ties, suspending the Indus Water Treaty of 1960, and expelling Pakistani military attaches. The Attari-Wagah border has been closed in response to the attack.
